Group C: Regular f2.8 Prime Lenses
Sigma 24mm f2.8 v Pentax 24mm SMC-A: Conclusion
As if it wasn't bad enough that the Pentax SMC-A was outpointed by the Sigma 24mm f2.8, the Pentax had terminal difficulties in even being used on a Canon 350D. For some unfathomable reason, an indicated focus distance of infinity actually placed the focal place about 2.5m away. This with the same adaptor that gives perfect infinity focus on the Pentax K mount Sigma 24mm f2.8 used in this test . . .
Given that the game appeared not to be worth the candle, I was disinclined to adjust the lens to fit a full frame Canon, and so the beer money Sigma proceeds to the qualifying heats, both by merit, and by the disqualification of the Pentax 24mm SMC-A for unsporting behaviour on and off the field.
'She fell over! She fell over!’
Overleaf, we see what happened to the surviving K Mount Sigma 24mm f2.8 . . .
